In this position you will serve as a Lead Medical Officer for the Maternal Health Team on the Pediatric and Maternal Health Staff (PMHS). This position is located in the Immediate Office of the Office of New Drugs (OND), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the full span of policy development for review and approval of labeling of drug products for reproductive safety and for use during pregnancy and lactation.

This announcement is being posted using a government-wide direct hire authority (DHA).   • Serves as the team leader of the Maternal Health Team for oversight, policy development, evaluating protocols and analyzing data from industry sponsored pre- and post-marketing pharmacokinetic, clinical lactation, and safety studies.
  • Serves as the principal advisor to the Associate Director of PHMS and other senior level OND and CDER staff on broad policy and strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as an expert resource in PMHS and within OND for advice and training on the review and approval of reproductive health drug labeling.

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess the following:

DEGREE:   Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation OR   a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. (Such equivalency is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who GRADUATE TRAINING:   At least one year of supervised experience completed during a graduate training completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country) (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS). 

AND

LICENSURE:  Possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF LICENSURE)

EXPERIENCE:  One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, that included: developing policy and guidance for maternal health related industry or program; managing public communication activities relating to maternal health; monitoring compliance activities for a maternal health program; and providing administrative and technical supervision or leadership to employees

1.
