This vacancy is for a Program Analyst position in SelectUSA of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service (US&FCS), an agency within the International Trade Administration. This position is located at ITA’s headquarters in Washington DC.
Established under Executive Order in June 2011, SelectUSA is the first U.S. Government-wide initiative to attract and retain business investment in the United States. SelectUSA continues to work actively to increase quality investment projects into the United States while taking steps at the federal level to ensure the United States is the premier destination for investment. SelectUSA promotes and supports foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States, contributing to U.S. job creation, innovation, and competitiveness. SelectUSA is a program of the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, within the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Foreign direct investment plays a major role in the United States economy, both as a key driver of the economy and an important source of innovation, exports and jobs. The United States has always provided foreign investors a stable and welcoming market. SelectUSA facilitates investment through a number a core services.
Working across the federal government on a case-by-case basis and through the Interagency Investment Working Group, SelectUSA addresses investor concerns and issues in cases where a Federal rule or regulation impedes or prevents a legitimate greenfield investment, expansion, or retention.
Information Assistance to Investors
SelectUSA serves as a resource for potential investors, providing information on: how to establish and operate a business in the United States; the benefits of establishing operations in the United States; Federal standards, rules, and regulations; and Federal resources like grants, loans and other programs.
When appropriate, SelectUSA can act as an advocate to promote the U.S. business climate to a potential investor in an ongoing project that may be at risk or where a U.S. location faces international competition. SelectUSA may also act as an advocate when federal-level engagement can convey the appropriate support for a potential investment project.
SelectUSA shares best practices with U.S. Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) on how to improve their own foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction efforts and create and implement an investment strategy. SelectUSA counsels EDOs on FDI trends, effective outreach methods tailored for specific international locations, and marketing strategies to promote their location to foreign investors.
- A one-year probationary/trial period may be required.
