This position is located in the San Francisco Field Office of the Division of Risk Management Supervision of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.  The Administrative Assistant serves as a personal assistant to the Field Supervisor, and performs technical and administrative duties to assist the examiners assigned to the Field or Territory.

The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed 2 years, which may be extended to a maximum of four years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.

 To the extent possible, relieves the examiners of nearly all office routines by performing a wide variety of duties incidental to the operation of the Field Territory. 

* Maintains records systems
* Processes workflow from supervisor’s outbox
* Distributes mail & other documents
* Maintains supplies
* Operates security system
* Arranges for maintenance of office equipment
* Takes technical information from records and converts it into management reports in final format.
* Prepares various examination documents and reports 

* Downloads examination data, and uploads reports 

* Assists supervisors with presentations 

* Edits for accuracy examiners’ automated Time and Attendance Reports, and transmits reports.
* Arranges travel
* Ensures correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in written materials
* Composes or transcribes letters, e-mails, reports, often of a confidential nature. 

* Instructs and assists examiners with preparation of complex hours and personnel forms.

 * Trains others to serve in back-up roles for the administrative assistant duties
* Interacts with bankers, regulators, and RO/DC staff both inside and outside FDIC.

At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 5 level in the Federal service is required. Specialized experience includes using a variety of software to provide a wide range of administrative functions which include correspondence, travel arrangements, timekeeping, records and file maintenance, assemble and distribution of documents and files, conference or meeting planning, maintenance of calendars, etc in support of management and office operations. Such experience may have been gained in administrative and/or secretarial work; insurance office administrative work, medical administrative work; accounts management work; or other responsible office/administrative work beyond receptionist duties that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

In addition to the qualification requirements listed above, you must also meet the following selective factor to be considered eligible for this job. The selective factor is defined as: Ability to ensure correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in written materials.

You must meet the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors - if any) for this position by the closing date.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.  

Low Risk Position - National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) required.
