Possess at least one year of specialized experience which equipped you with the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience are but not limited to: work experience in the area of cardiac monitoring; observing, gathering, initiating, compiling and recording telemetry data; assessing telemetry equipment for malfunction, alarm settings, and accountability of all telemetry transmitters. This experience range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in Federal service. NOTE: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Possess at least four (4) year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed education and experience to meet the total experience requirements for the GS-5 grade level. NOTE: To calculate the combination of education and experience, determine the amount of experience you have as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the amount of education you have as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Only education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level is qualifying. Add the two percentages; the total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify for the grade level.

Physical Requirements: Work requires long periods of regular and recurring standing and walking with regular and recurring bending, stooping, lifting and positioning of patients. During cardiac monitoring demands are sedentary in nature with opportunity to stand as needed. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard. Technician must be able to visualize monitors, various equipment, and computer screens. Accurately utilizes sense of hearing, vision, smell and/or touch in patient observation and care. If assisting in any patient care, duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with patients requires regular and recurring hand hygiene, use of universal precautions and effective body mechanics.
