This is a developmental position with promotion potential to the GS-6 level. You will perform one or a combination of the following duties:  Reference and Research Room Service; Arrangement; Preservation and Rehabilitation; and/or Description under the technical and administrative supervision of a higher grade employee.  Specifically, you will perform assignments such as:

 o    Monitor research activity and provide customer services;

 

o    General reference and research room service in response to oral and written inquires involving records relating to assigned area.  Provide basic information about the records to researchers as needed;

o    Provide circulation and reproduction services;

 

o    Provide preservation and holdings security services to protect the records;

 

o    Retrieve and deliver records from storage areas in response to specific inquiries from the public; and refile the materials after use;

o    Description activities involving the creation of box and/or folder title lists. Detailed internal finding aids for series or records with which you are familiar, i.e., indexes and shelf lists.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that has included such activities as providing research and/or customer service, and performing arrangement, description, accessioning, or preservation of archival records.

 

Education may be substituted for experience:  GS-5: Four years of education above the high school level or a bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution may be considered as qualifying for this position.

 

Combination of Experience and Education: You must have a large enough percentage of the required experience and a large enough percentage of the required education, so that when added together, the percentage would equal 100%.

Qualifications by Closing Date: You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Please note that qualification claims will be subject to verification.

 

Physical Requirements:  This position requires the ability to lift and carry boxes of records weighing up to 30 pounds, the ability push/move heavy carts or trucks of records.   Position involves periods of prolonged standing and/or walking.

Schedule: May require an irregular tour of duty, including evening and Saturday hours.

 

 

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
