 This is a developmental position and at the full performance level (GS-07), the incumbent serves as a Office Automation Assistant.  The duties will consist of but are not limited to: 

·      Assists and supports the Assistant State Conservationist for Field Operations (ASTC(FO)) in preparing and monitoring office operating budget.

·      Manages vehicle fleet. 

·      Verifies time and attendance records.

·      Completes physical inventories of all property. 

·      Purchases supplies, equipment and services through open market within delegated purchase authority.

·      Tracks and monitors field office accomplishments. Prepares reports for ASTC(FO); tracks and informs supervisor of deadlines.

To qualify for this position applicants must meet one of the following.

Applicants must have specialized experience in the administrative functions as described below:  

 

For GS-05 Eligibility - One year of administrative experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service or 4 years of education above high school to qualify at the GS-5 level. This experience must be at the level that provided specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to coordinate, monitor and perform clerical and administrative functions of an office.  This experience include, but are not limited to, the following examples: performing clerical/technical support in the areas of travel, time and attendance, preparing correspondence, memorandums and other document utilizing word processing equipment, and providing administrative support for an office or organization.

OR

Successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable.  This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.  One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

 

For GS-06 Eligibility - One or more years of administrative experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service to qualify at the GS-6 level. This experience must be at the level that provided specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to coordinate, monitor and perform most clerical and administrative functions, duties, priorities, commitments, policies and program goals of an office.  This experience include, but are not limited to, the following examples: performing clerical and administrative support duties including records management, distributing and maintaining controlled items, operating computer software applications, time and attendance processing, and effective oral and written communication; knowledge of administrative concepts and practices sufficient to identify needed changes in administrative policies and devise and install new procedures and office practices with some supervision.

 

Credit will be given for appropriate qualifying unpaid experience or volunteer work such as community, cultural, social service, and professional association activities on the same basis as paid experience. To receive proper credit for unpaid experience or volunteer work, fully describe your responsibilities and show the actual time (years, months, and hours per week) spent in such activities.

The knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform these duties are: (1) Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate office activities, (2) Skill in operating personal computers, related hardware and software, (3) Knowledge of policies and procedures governing correspondence, and (4) Ability to provide leadership for administrative and clerical support.
