This position is ideal for an administrative professional looking for an opportunity to provide advisory services to management and staff regarding personnel policies, procedures and guidelines.  This position starts at a salary of $42,209.00 (GS-7) with promotion potential to $51,630.00 (GS-9).  apply for this exciting opportunity to become a member of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), United States Fire Administration (USFA), National Emergency Training Center (NETC) Management, Operations & Support Services, Operations and Support Branch in Emmitsburg, MD.

PROMOTION POTENTIAL: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.

EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT:  For all nonbargaining unit positions, the following applies:  Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.  All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

In this position, you will become a member of the Management Operations Branch.  Typical work assignments include:

  • Providing managers and employees with information regarding the agency's personnel policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Serving as USFA point of contact for the Automated Deployment Database (ADD);
  • Providing programmatic and administrative support functions and coordinating correspondence and action items;
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and assists with special tasks for the Branch staff.

You qualify for this position at the GS-07 level if you possess one of the following:

One full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is described as experience providing advisory services to management and staff on administrative processes that is equivalent to GS-05 grade level or band in federal service. 

OR

1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement 

OR

Combination of education and experience.

You qualify for this position at the GS-09 level if you possess one of the following:

One full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is described as experience providing advisory services to management and staff on administrative programs and processes that is equivalent to GS-07 in grade level or band in federal service.

OR

master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

Combination of education and experience.

3. Ability to write reports and correspondence dealing with substantive issues in a manner designed to persuade and inform others.

4. Skill in operating word-processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and office management software for the preparation of reports, correspondence and briefing materials.

5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
