This announcement is to be used to fill any number of future vacancies for Community Health Nurse positions located throughout San Diego County.

 

Referral for consideration is continuous from December 10, 2012 through March 10, 2013.  Qualified applicants will be referred on an as-need basis for existing and future vacancies within the locations indicated in the announcement.  After March 10, 2013, applicants who wish to be considered for future vacancies will need to apply under the next open continuous announcement.  An updated application must be submitted at that time.

 

Appointment Type

Permanent and time-limited positions may be filled from this announcement. Positions may have full time, part time, and/or intermittent work schedule. Time-limited positions may be extended at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Holiday/weekend and/or shift work may be required.

·         Coordinate preventive, therapeutic, rehabilitative and psychosocial interventions to ensure continuity of patient care and enhance optimal wellness.

·         Assess the biological, psychological, social, and educational readiness of the patient and family regarding individualized self-care and home care needs.

·         Develop, implement, and monitor patient progression through specific clinical guidelines.

·         Ensure resources and services are used in a quality-conscious, cost-effective manner.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

 

Basic requirements: Applicants must possess a degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed AND must possess an active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 

Experience participating in the evaluation of patient outcomes within effective timeframes and utilizing all available resources to assure the most cost effective use of rources.

 

Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring patient progression through specific clinical guidelines.

 

Experience cooridnating mulit-service, collaborative approach to patient's health care needs across the care continuum.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

 

A security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.   If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.

In accordance with Executive Order 12564, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.  In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

Must obtain and maintain a current Registered Nurse (R.N.) license.

Required to obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Selectee(s) must meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.

Required TB test/Hepatitis B screening.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. 

Work requires extensive walking, standing, stretching, lifting, transporting and bending in caring for patients; the ability to influence confused patients regarding their care, and physically control or defend against emotionally ill or confused patients. Work is performed in a health care setting where there is exposure to contagious disease, radiation, infection. Gloves, gowns and masks are frequently necessary.
