NCUA is seeking a seasoned executive or high-level manager to serve as the Inspector General for NCUA. As the Inspector General, you will direct an independent office with broad responsibility under the Inspector Act of 1978, as amended, for promoting the economy and efficiency of NCUA programs and operations; preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse in agency programs; conducting and supervising audits and investigations of programs and operations; and keeping the NCUA Board and the Congress fully and currently informed of problems and deficiencies relating to the administration of NCUA programs and operations.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

As the Inspector General, you will:


Provide policy direction and oversight for and conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits of agency functions and entities.

Provide policy direction and oversight for and conduct, supervise, and coordinate  investigations of claims of possible waste, fraud and/or abuse in NCUA programs and operations.

Review existing and proposed legislation and regulations relating to NCUA programs and functions.

Inform the NCUA Board and Congressional staff of serious problems.

Attend internal/external meetings.

Perform full range of supervisory responsibilities.

You must have one year (12 months) of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to work of the position to be filled.

For this position you must have one year (12 months) of full time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the SS-01 level (SES level). Qualifying specialized experience is:

Experience as a Senior Manager or Executive with oversight responsibility for an Audit or Investigative Unit within an Inspector General office; experience managing a diverse workforce; and experience conducting oversight of broad scope regulatory financial programs involving auditing or managing complex financial programs.

Ability to manage an audit and/or investigative function that independently plans and conducts audits, investigations, and/or evaluates programs, functions and internal controls.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Best Qualified candidates will be referred to a NCUA ERB interview panel for a possible interview. The ERB interview panel will make recommendations on final selections to the appointing authority.

OTHER INFORMATION:

SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's Compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's Local Pay Rate (LPR) which includes a locality rate of 21.87 percent for the Alexandria, VA geographical area. Salary will be set in accordance with the Inspector General Act of 2008.

Relocation: If you are a current NCUA employee, your relocation expenses are authorized in accordance with NCUA relocation policies.  If you are not a current NCUA employee, NCUA will pay to move your household goods in accordance with NCUA relocation policies.    

Other Key Requirements: You must serve a one-year managerial probationary period if you have not done so. A managerial probationary period must be completed even if you have completed a supervisory probationary period.
