Individuals will be placed in the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP). The NADP is a structured management-training program including formal education, diverse rotational assignments, extensive on-the-job training, and graduate tuition assistance that is tailored to various acquisition career fields for up to three years. These positions are located throughout the U.S.; however a majority are located within the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area, CA, WA, MD, VA, PA, NJ, RI and FL.

  • Provides natural resources technical reviews and guidance on facility planning efforts, design, and construction projects, real estate actions, environmental compliance documentation and developmental of Integrated Natural Resources Management Plans.
  • Provides technical assistance to customers on the full range of natural resource issues associated with their facility operations.
  • Prepares specifications and contracts for the sale, harvest and/or removal of timber from government property.
  • Conducts research on natural resource issues by accessing state and federal databases; tracks expenditures; and prepares budget requests for natural resource funds.
  • Prepares written technical material and reports.

Basic Requirements:

A. Completed (or will complete by June 30, 2013) bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. OR:

B. Possess a combination of education and experience; courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-07:

A completed (or will complete by June 30, 2013) degree that meets the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement through one of the following methods. No more than 10% of academic credit can be based on pass/fail or similar non-traditional grading systems.

  • 2.95 GPA overall or higher or in last 2 yrs (= or less than 10% Pass/Fail)
  • 3.45 GPA or higher in major or in last 2 yrs in major (= or less than 10% Pass/Fail)
  • Upper 1/3 ranking in graduating class (you must submit proof with your application)
  • National Scholastic Honor Society. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. (You must submit proof with your application) OR

Specialized Experience: One year of professional experience in an appropriate field comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the  GS-5 level or equivalent in the Federal Service performing professional duties such as coordinating environmental reports, identifying land use issues, collecting data on environmental impacts of drilling operations, monitoring construction, production and reclamation activities to ensure environmental compliance, or other closely related work. OR

Education: One full academic year of graduate education (18 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. (completed by June 30, 2013). OR  

Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants that possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and a percentage of the required graduate level of education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-5 or higher is creditable.)

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-09:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service performing duties such as developing environmental reports, identifying land use issues and determining their impact on the environment, conducting surface protection and compliance programs, analyzing environmental impacts of drilling operations, or other closely related work. OR

Education: A Master's Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines.(completed by June 30, 2013). OR  

Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants that possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and a percentage of the required graduate level of education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-07 or higher is creditable.)

REQUIREMENTS: 

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Applicants should meet the DAWIA certification requirements for the applicable career field and be certified at Level 1 within 12 months of appointment and Level 2 within 24-36 months of appointment.

A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.
