NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:   This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.





This position is located in the Human Resources Office.  Its purpose is to provide full range military human resources (HR) staffing for Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) AGR personnel and career development services for ARNG AGR personnel.

--Provides advice and support to ARNG and ANG managers, supervisors, and AGR personnel on full range of military staffing matters.

--Responsible for coordinating with National Guard Bureau (NGB) for re-documentation of positions.

--Accumulates and analyzes statistics concerning staffing functions such as turnover,resignations, minority hire rates, promotions, hiring lag time, etc. Conducts exit

--Develops localized AGR job standards in accordance with Military Occupation Skill(MOS)/Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) regulatory guidance.

--Staffs and executes reduction-in-force procedures.  Coordinates with the appropriate Human Resources Specialist regarding restoration following AGR tours, probationary periods, and priority placement programs.

--Provides advice to management regarding all actions associated with AGR military compatibility.

--Provides advice on career management that ensures maximum career opportunities for qualified AGR personnel while ensuring proper fill of positions at all levels.

--Provides advice and assistance to ARNG AGR personnel, supervisors and managers on identifying training needs, in accordance with the Professional Development Program (PDP).

--Ensures that retention boards are conducted in a timely manner. Compiles tour continuation board results for NGB review.

--Conducts continuing analysis and evaluation of the training program's effectiveness in meeting training and career development goals.

--Coordinates with the Plans and Operations Training Office and the ARNG Military Personnel Office to locate and use resources to meet identified training needs.

--May serve as coordinator or conference leader for courses and briefings conducted by the AGR section.

--Gathers pertinent information on the effectiveness of the AGR force in accomplishing the required mission, functions and tasks.

--Monitors the military performance evaluation program for all AGR personnel.

--Serves as point of contact regarding NGB manpower evaluations and survey site visits pertaining to AGR personnel.

--May assist in on-site AGR evaluation reviews.

Minimum Requirements:

Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

Specialized Experience:

GS-07 – Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations,procedures or laws.  Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions.  Experience performing personnel transactions.   Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.

  • Wear of the appropriate military uniform and maintaining standards of conduct and appearance are mandatory. Additionally, the selectee agrees to attend all Unit Training Assemblies and Annual Training with his/her unit of assignment.

  • Member agrees to initiate Direct Deposit Action for payroll checks.
  • Acceptance of a military technician position will cause termination of entitlement and eligibility for all bonuses and student loan repayments effective the date of employment. An initial payment received less than 180 days from the start of any technician tour, WILL be recouped. This does not apply to temporary technician assignments of less than 180 days.  This does not affect GI Bill eligibility.
  • No PCS funds are available.
  • Grade inversion is not permitted.
  • Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of technician pre-employment physical, and may be subject to pre-employment drug testing.
