JOB SUMMARY:

The Naval Intelligence Community spans across many organizations that provide direct support to the Navy, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and various Joint and Fleet Commands.   Gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Navy relative to the broader Intelligence Community and work side by side with your fellow companions throughout the DOD and various other intelligence agencies. 

 

Serves as a Security Specialist responsible for providing the full spectrum of security guidance, services, and technical advice in a wide range of security functional areas. As such, will be responsible for researching and implementing security and foreign disclosure policies and assess the security posture of the command.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • This position is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP).
  • May be required to successfully complete a polygraph examination.

  • Provides technical advice and assistance regarding the establishment of comprehensive security awareness programs.
  • Provides guidance and decisions on the release and disclosure of classified and unclassified but sensitive information to foreign officials.
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) contracts management program.
  • Analyzes and identifies security educational needs of the workforce.
  • Advises customers and leadership on security and disclosure concepts, principles, methodology and practices.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: (1) Researching policy and exchange agreements and recommending disclosure direction and information sharing strategies. (2) Providing guidance and recommendations to improve the overall security of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). (3) Evaluating the effectiveness of current security programs and processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

 

All new DCIPS employees must successfully complete a two-year trial period.

Selectee must complete a Special Background investigation and receive a favorable adjudication by a determining authority.  A Top Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to obtain and maintain this required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.   If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.

This position is in the excepted service. Non-DCIPS applicants selected for a DCIPS position must acknowledge in writing, prior to actual appointment to the DCIPS position, that the position for which he or she has been selected is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS. Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must also acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS position. This acknowledgement is necessary as movement between the excepted service and competitive service may be limited if the employee does not possess competitive status.
