WISCONSIN AIR NATIONAL GUARD

This position is located at the 115 FW, Madison, Wisconsin.

This position is open to current Non-Dual Status Technicians employed with the 115 FW Air National Guard.

 

If position becomes "permanent", individual may be converted to a permanent appointment without further competition.  Individual will be given 30 days notice prior to appointment termination.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Wing Chief of Information Protection at Air National Guard installations.  Administers the Information Protection (IP) Program to include protection from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to wing and command mission interests, national defense or national security.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience, education or training that has provided analytical, decision making, or administrative skills which demonstrates the candidates ability to accomplish the work of an organization.  This experience must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and successfully with others.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

GS-12 Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training serving as the Wing Information Protection Program Manager executing and enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program.  Make information protection risk assessments and risk management, mitigation strategies, and recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues.  Deliver Security Awareness and Education Programs to satisfy security education and training requirements.  Demonstrates expert knowledge of the information security field that is necessary to provide effective guidance, training, and direction to subordinate squadron level organizations/activities/units.  Establishes and maintains liaisons with senior personnel at wing, NGB, ANG and MAJCOM.  Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities over a diverse workforce.  Formulates wing program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the development and operation of wing-wide information security programs and activities and provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate wing information security personnel.  Conducting regulatory and non-regulatory security surveys and Information Security Program Reviews (ISPRs) or comparable reviews.  Assisting with the development of intelligence gathering processes, methods and recommendations.  Providing technical advice, training and assistance regarding information, personnel and industrial security.  Interprets National Guard (NGB), Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force (AF), Department of Defense (DoD), and other federal regulations for information security processes as they apply and are implemented within the Wing.

Substitution of Education for specialized experience A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience.  The education must have been in fields directly related to Security Administration.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Employees will be required to participate in direct deposit/electronic fund transfer (DD/EFT).
  • Must obtain Tier 1, Security Fundamentals, DoD certification within one year of entering on duty or obtain an approved time waiver.
