BASIC REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Applicants who wish to qualify for positions at higher grade levels must meet additional requirements under general and/or specialized experience.
A degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed. Active/Current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience providing health care assessment, planning, coordination, implementing and evaluation of a total health program for Children and Youth Services ages infant to 18 years to include those with special needs.
- Experience assessing the health needs of the Children and Youth Services facilities served, developing educational activities that promote better health practices, and evaluating conditions requiring medical attention.
- Experience assessing and treating minor illnesses such as colds, cuts, contusions, and childhood diseases.
- Experience taking medical histories, making physical assessments, communicating results of diagnosis, and following-up on the delivery of health care services.
- 12 months professional nursing experience in pediatric care working with special needs/youth.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's or equivalent degree.
Graduate-level education must have been in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g., teaching, a clinical specialty, research, administration, etc.) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position to be filled.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
