JOB SUMMARY:

The IMCOM G9 mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force. 

Fort Sam Houston is located in beautiful San Antonio, TX with a warm climate, close proximity to beaches, and a population of apporximately 1 million people. Additionally, there are many surrounding smaller towns within a 30 mile radius including Universal City, Converse, Kirby, Shertz and Cibolo. For those who prefer country living, ranches and property can be easily found in the big and beautiful state of Texas.

Serves as the primary writer-editor for IMCOM G9 Family and MWR Programs marketing materials supporting multiple marketing coordinators/account managers with the writing and editing of marketing and advertising copy for use in both traditional print and online media. Serves as an action officer/project manage for the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive online and offline print, radio, video and web presentations for a wide array of Family and MWR marketing products. Provides editing support for a full spectrum of online and offline marketing materials, scripts, and presentations. Serves as a primary web content manager for Family and MWR websites. Supports the IMCOM G9 Marketing Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief with the development and analysis/editing of written products and web initiatives. Collaborates with Marketing Division colleagues in support of the Family and MWR enterprise Brand. Budgets, plans, perpares creative briefs, and develops/delivers presentations in support of Family and MWR programs. Serves in a variety of project manager roles including support of branding campaigns, social media promotion integration, return on investment analysis and written products for contracting actions such as performance work statements/statement of work.

Serves as Writer-Editor responsible for planning, organizing, writing and editing various forms of program materials to include hard copy and online communication initiatives for the Marketing Division.

Works with Marketing Branch Chiefs and Program Managers to update, edit and write reports, marketing materials including, but not limited to handbooks, guidebooks, radio, video, web, e-marketing, email campaigns and advertisement copy. Aids professional management staff in developing written business cases, program execution information, and briefings. Produces written materials that articulate Marketing Enterprise philosophy, tactics, and strategies.

Assists Marketing in promulgating guidance and plans, and mentors/trains and reviews the work of team members engaged in writing, editing, illustrating and preparing publications and web-based projects. Helps plan the scope and content of the specific project assigned, guiding the project from inception through completion. Continually advises “Subject Matter Experts” throughout the technical manual writing/developmental process. Edits submitted draft marketing material and ensures that corrections are incorporated.

Oversees online communication initiatives on organization websites to include content development, project management and implementation of online marketing messages.
Includes other jopb related duties as assigned.

Successful completion of a 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a degree with a major course of study in English or, highly preferred, a degree in Writing.

OR
A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition, candidate must possess:

1. Knowledge and documented skill in grammar, writing, and editing. Business and analytical writing skills highly preferred. Experience in producing/editing educational materials is a plus.
2. Comprehensive oral communication skills.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of computer word processing software and publishing concepts, practices and technologies.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of writing for the web including best practices for search engine optimization (SEO).

Highly desirable: Ability to work independently and proactively to solve problems and deliver high quality and effective written products desired. Ability to work under short deadlines on high visibility projects a must. Significant experience in developing and executinig both online/interactive and offline written marketing products including demonstrated proficiency of social media, writing online content and using web content management systems (CMS) strongly desired. Degree in writing, marketing, advertising or communications highly desirable. A minimum of five years professional experience working in a miilitary environment is highly desirable.


Conditions of employment:

 

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

6. All applicants must complete a DA Form 3433-1 (supplemental application form).

7. Priority consideration will be given to current and former NAF employees and current DOD APF employees serving in a continuous APF position without time limits for at least one year.
