US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command. Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions. The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.
This is a FLEX 00 position at the Fort Buchanan, Veterinary Treatment Facility. Our goal is to provide quality, affordable healthcare to active duty and retired military personnel throughout the island. The VTF currently has 1500 patient records. There are two civilian staff, and four military staff running the VTF. Our clinic performs preventative care, basic surgery and radiological services. The Clerk is responsible for the organization and smooth running of the VTF. They schedule appointments and move the flow of clients from the beginning to the end of their appointment. They are the first and last employee that our clients interact with, and have a huge impact on client satisfaction. The Clerk is expected to be helpful and friendly to all clientele. Excellent communication skills are required. Applicants must be willing to work with many types of animals, and be willing to perform as needed cleaning throughout the work day. Applicants must be comfortable with computer systems, handling money and daily reporting requirements. Applicants must be flexible and adaptable. Applicants must be able to multitask; often they will be required to attend to the phones as well as to clients in the clinic, while taking requests from the veterinarian. Applicants will be required to receive the rabies vaccination series.
