Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking an RN with a broad-based clinical knowledge and patient care experience who is proficient and skilled in electronic clinical applications that support  patient care. This nurse serves as a technology resource for nurses and other staff related to computer hardware and software as an analyst of healthcare data and as an educator in formal and informal setting

Staff RN for Informatics functions as a coordinator for BCMA, CPRS resource, ADPAC, assess nursing hardware and software needs, maintains nursing Share Point/web page and VANOD coordinator. Incumbent must have in depth knowledge of software interdependencies between Vista, CPRS, BCMA and other applications used by nursing. The informatics nurse will be the primary resource for teaching, monitoring, consulting and troubleshooting nursing applications.  She/he will be the primary resource for coordination, revision and implementation of documentation templates. Incumbent will work with all levels of nursing staff across all clinical services and locations including non-nursing staff in Pharmacy, IRM, and other services to accomplish the functions of this role.  Participation in VISN and national communications is required.

The Staff Nurse is a citizen of the United States and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with an active, current, full and unrestricted license. The incumbent is a graduate of a state approved nursing school that is accredited by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Baccalaureate Degree is the preferred degree with approximately two to three years of successful nursing practice. At least one year of informatics experience is preferred. Computer literacy which includes knowledge and skills needed to use computer applications and computer technology such as CPRS, VistA, ADPAC functions, BCMA, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and communication programs used at the facility and information literacy including  the ability to recognize the need, locate and effectively utilize information is required. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software and wired and wireless networks with sufficient knowledge and skills to instruct on and/or resolve issues related to the use of computers, software programs, printers, presentation and networking equipment is mandatory. He/she must have the physical and mental capability to satisfactorily perform assigned duties. Maintaining a current BLS certification is required.
