JOB SUMMARY:

This is an example for MWR positions; positions with other Agencies must reflect a different Marketing statement.

The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

 These positions are located at Lodging Operations, Fort Lee, VA.

Performs a variety of trades and craft duties involving maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities. Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting, and laboring work. The incumbent may also be required to operate a motor vehicle.

Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses. Un-stops sinks and toilet bowls. Hangs electrical fixtures and repairs screens and storm sashes. Makes minor repairs to furniture and woodwork. May occasionally assist in moving furniture or refinishing the appearance.  Assists in the maintenance and repair of building
exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying by applying sealing compounds and primers. Finishes rough edges, smoothing them with file, emery cloth and sandpaper. Paints when surfaces are ready. Sets up and adjusts ladders and scaffolding. Carries, lifts and holds materials in position during the repair operation. Nails loose boards and replaces window glass. Assists in the maintenance and repair of the grounds. Cuts grass, plants, trims hedges, trees and shrubbery. Dumps trash, waters plants and sweeps walkways, and may be required to shovel snow. The incumbent may be required to operate a ½ Ton up to 1 Ton motor vehicle to and from worksite to transport material and personnel. If required to operate a motor vehicle, prepares trip tickets, performs driver's daily maintenance and reports any major repairs needed to supervisor.

Experience in performing duties as described and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties. If the position requires the incumbent to operate a vehicle. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license.


Conditions of employment:

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

5. Positions includes working weekends, holidays and shift work as well as assignment of work location within position description anywhere within Army Lodging. 

6. Social Security Card must be presented at time of appointment.

7. May be required to operate a motor vehicle. You will have to provide proof of driver's license.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability to perform maintenance and repair of building interiors and the ability to perform the maintenance and repair of building exteriors

 

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.
