This Welder Helper position is located in the Manufacturing Operations Branch, Prototyping and Manufacturing Division of the Support Equipment (SE) and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Department of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) in Lakehurst, NJ.  As the Navy’s engineering support activity for ALRE and SE, Lakehurst is the critical link between Naval Aviation and Navy Aircraft Carrier (CV) Battle Groups worldwide. NAVAIR Lakehurst is responsible for maintaining fleet support and infusing modern technology across the entire spectrum of equipment needed to launch, land and maintain aircraft from ships at sea. The Selectee will be hired at the WG-05 Level with a salary range of $19.73 to $23.02 per hour.  The Full Performance Level for the position is WG-08 which pays from $23.43 to 27.34 per hour. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

·         Cleans equipment, and work areas

·         Performs filing, chipping, deburring, drilling, and grinding

·         Operates or assists in the operation of  welding equipment

·         Assists in heavy and cumbersome work

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
  • Relocation/PCS expenses will not be paid
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license
  • If selected, must provide a copy of driver's license prior to hire
  • Must obtain and maintain a Security clearance
  • Required to pass a physical examination
  • Must sign a DD2365 Emergency Essential agreement agreeing to be always on-call for duty anywhere in the world including combat zones.
