This position is located in the Directorate of Public Health Services, Naval Health Clinic Hawaii and/or the Marine Corp Base of Kaneohe Bay.  The selectee works to insure that preventive, diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological services are provided for all levels of personnel.

As an Audiologist, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

·         Organizing audiology services including the hearing conservation program in an audiology clinic.

·         Determining candidacy for hearings aids and custom hearing protection for patient.

·         Consulting with physicians to determine the nature of auditory pathologies in adults for the purpose of guiding medical and surgical intervention.

·         Training hospital employees and/or technicians in the conduct of basic audio logic evaluation procedures for the purpose of providing essential diagnostic information too referring physicians in a timely manner.

·         Educating hearing impaired persons with respect to the nature of their communication deficit and methods achieving improved hearing performance.

Basic Requirements:  The Office of Personnel Management has identified the following minimum educational requirement for this position:

 

Must have completed a master's degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice.

Minimum Qualifications: In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement of this position, applicants must also meet the following qualification requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: 

 

GS-12:  At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal service providing audiometric testing and/or evaluation for patients with hearing loss; treating patients with serious communication impairments; and interpreting diagnostic tests to assess the degree and/or nature of hearing loss of

patients.

 

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS: 

This position will require a course director certification, however, it can be obtained after being hired.

A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.  If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume. 

This position requires considerable walking for short distances in an office-type location. 

Worksite visits and field activities may require light lifting as well as standing, bending, climbing or crawling.

During worksite visits and field activities, the incumbent may be subjected to hot, noisy, and humid environments which may require the use of protective equipment and clothing.

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
