JOB SUMMARY:

Hawaii Army National Guard

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

LOCATION: Field Maintenance Shop 2, Hawaii Army National Guard Wahiawa, Hawaii.

RECRUITMENT AREA: Present military technicians (WO1) and (E4-E8) in the US Armed Forces within the State of Hawaii.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to plan, schedule, control, and monitor the status of equipment maintenance; and to assist a higher-graded Production Controller.
• Establishes plans, schedules, and controls the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Studies directives, modification work orders, and regulations as to their application in the unit.
• Authorizes the acceptance of equipment for repair, monitors work priorities, status, and completion of work orders and requisitions; and provides status of repair parts.
• Prioritizes resources to ensure the highest level of readiness in support of training and resources to ensure the highest level of readiness in support of training and mobilization requirements of supported units.
• Coordinates with units and other support activities concerning the delivery, status of repair operations, and/or pick up of completed work orders.
• May provide day-to-day technical guidance to lower-graded personnel assisting in the maintenance production or maintenance management processes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is sedentary with no special physical demands. There is a requirement to walk, stand, bend, or carry light items.  When overseeing work. May be required to perform in-process inspection and final inspection to ensure quality and completeness of repairs and services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.   Visits to production areas are relatively free of hazards.

GENERAL Experience: Experience, education, or training which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understands the terminology and data pertaining to the repair operations and processes characteristic of the production activity. 

SPECIALIZED Experience: Must have at least 12 months experience, education or training working with people from various levels and backgrounds.  Experience with a general knowledge of the functions and procedures of production control, records, references, and techniques for developing production control data.   Experience assisting or maintaining workflow.

MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENT: Prior to placement in this position, the selected candidate must be assigned to a valid position in WO: BR 92; ENL:  92A or 92Y.


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours.  To be creditable, applicants must submit transcripts, diplomas or other forms of completion certificates to provide verification of related courses.

c. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
d. The compatible military duty assignment listed is broad in scope and does not mean that such military assignments are authorized/vacant.  The selecting official reserves the right to select the most compatible and available military assignment.  Unless otherwise stipulated in this announcement, such military assignment must be in the same unit by which employed (or a unit that is supported by the employing activity).
e. Pay retention authorized for wage grade technicians.
f. Permanent change of station (PCS) expenses may not be authorized for this position.  Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard. 
g. Applicants may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment.

h. In addition to your application, documents of last performance appraisal may be submitted.  If the performance appraisals are not available, documents of past civilian performance, letter of recommendations, and or military performance may be submitted.  These documents will be evaluated as part of the selection process.

i. Final selection will be based upon qualifications, suitability, and available manpower resources.

j.  Selectee may be scheduled for formal training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within the first six months of employment.  Unless there are extenuating circumstances, failure to complete National Guard Bureau prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment, may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of employment.

k. This employer will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employee’s Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.

l. This position may involve arduous/hazardous duties. Placement is contingent upon successful completion of a medical examination or review/approval of a physical examination taken within six months.
