As a Staff Support Assistant (Administrative Assistant), you will;

  • Provide technical analysis and budgetary recommendations to support Agency funding requests.
  • Monitoring and evaluating of the branch of Natural Resources and Real Estate Services for effectiveness.
  • Maintain all records and appointments, meeting for the Agency Deputy Superintendent, Realty Officer and Natural Resources Officer.
  • Analyze and review documentation procedures and controls, files, directives, forms, records, control and disposal procedures and office automation and performs equivalent management information.
  • Provide clerical support for the Trust programs.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-303-6).

 

GS-6:  1 year or 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience, but not limited to the following involved work in an Office setting receiving customers, responding to correspondence in a professional manner, working in a trust office environment. Clerical support dealing with drafting correspondence, reviewing budgetary information, handling of all appointments schedules and office support.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicant must be able to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS:  A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.  Appointment will be subject to the applicant’s successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication.  Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

 

OTHER:  Incumbent is required, as an incidental duty, to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.  Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
