This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Marine Machinery Mechanic without more than normal supervision such as:
Applying specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair marine machinery and equipment; and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and other drawings, and the use of arithmetic and standard handbook formulas in performing dimensional measurements and maintaining required tolerances.

A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.
Incumbent may be required to work aboard surface vessels while underway on trial runs or regular operations.
Work Environment: Daily assignments are in the production shops, on piers, outside and inside ships and small craft. Work is performed in weather environment including heat, humidity, cold, windy and wet conditions. Required to work from scaffolding, machinery spaces, bilges, platforms, and where the parts of systems worked are in hard to reach places, requiring the need to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Physical Demands: Frequently required to lift, carry, and help setup tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Required to wear safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses and other applicable safety gear as required by the work assignments in shops and shipboard conditions.
