The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability is seeking a motivated and highly-qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position located in the Washington, D.C. area. The Mission of the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability is to lead national efforts to modernize the electric grid; enhance security and reliability of the infrastructure; and facilitate recovery from disruptions to energy supply.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Infrastructure Modeling and Analysis provides executive direction to the office's programs and activities.  Directs the formulation, defense, administration, and evaluation of resources (staffing, information, contracts, & funding); manages resources allocation decisions among competing needs of the office.  Directs historical and forward looking analyses of domestic and international energy use in relations to government policies, energy prices, technology and other factors.  Directs and manages grid modeling, simulation, analysis, and date collection activities to identify major electric delivery bottlenecks and coordinates with national, regional, state, and local organizations and utilities.  Oversees the development of advanced predictive modeling capabilities to assess contingencies and impact from severe natural or man-made disasters.  Partners with the Energy Information Agency, National Electric Reliability Corporation, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on data collection and energy analytics, and long-term reliability assessments.  Represents DOE and provides energy infrastructure analysis and results to Congress, Federal government agencies and non-federal organizations as requested.

You will be given the opportunity to address these MTQs later in the online application process. MTQ 1:  Demonstrated expertise in modeling and analysis of energy or electric infrastructure operations and reliability, and experience in the application of advanced predictive modeling tools, grid modeling, simulations, analysis, and data collection.  MTQ 2: demonstrated ability to oversee the development and implementation of a highly visable energy infrastructure visualization system for use inside and outside of the Department of Energy.  MTQ 3:  Demonstrated experience in the development of advanced predictive modeling tools to assess contingecies, predict potential impacts from natural or manmade disasters and model the effectiveness of response strategies. MTQ 4: Demonstrated experience in energy risk analysis and analytical products sufficient to support the Department of Homeland Security and as part of the organizatinal mission to support emergency response.  MTQ 5: Expert knowledge of economic and environmental issues impacting domestic and global energy or electric markets. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS VACANCY: This is a career position in the SES. Unless the selectee is a member of the SES with career status or has successfully completed an SES Candidate Development Program, certified by the Office of Personnel Management, his/her managerial qualifications must be approved by OPM before appointment can be effected. If you are selected for this position, you will be subject to the U.S. Department of Energy mandatory requirements and will be required to file a public financial disclosure report within 30 days of entry on duty.
