The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports biodefense research, basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID) supports extramural research related to the control and prevention of diseases caused by virtually all human infectious agents (over 250 pathogens) except HIV. The DMID supports research and product development on Institute priorities including seasonal and pandemic influenza, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases as well as agents of bioterrorism such as smallpox and anthrax. If selected for this position, you will serve as a Health Specialist in DMID, responsible for oversight of the design, development, maintenance and enhancement of the DMID Clinical Research Operations and Management Support (CROMS) data system and the NIAID-Clinical Research Management Support (CRMS) enterprise data system in support of DMID operations. The data systems provide web-based, Division-wide information systems to support the scientific, administrative and regulatory management responsibilities associated with all facets of clinical program development, implementation, oversight and evaluation. You will also provide leadership and expertise in the planning and implementation of NIAID supported studies or other activities related to infectious diseases. The work requires knowledge of clinical research with infectious diseases or laboratory research with infectious diseases and skill in developing, supervising, and managing a clinical trials management system.
