S. Energy Information Administration in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides policy-neutral data, forecasts, and analyses to promote sound policy making, efficient markets, and public understanding regarding energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment. Created by the Congress in 1977, EIA is the statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy and as such is the Nation's premier source of unbiased energy data, analysis and forecasting. By law, EIA's products are prepared independently of Administration policy considerations. EIA neither formulates nor advocates any policy conclusions. The Assistant Administrator for Energy Analysis analyzes energy supply, demand, and prices including the impact of financial markets on energy markets; prepares reports on current and future energy use; analyzes the impact of energy policies; and develops advanced techniques for conducting energy information analyses. This Office also oversees the planning and execution of EIA's analysis and forecasting programs to ensure that EIA models, analyses, and projections meet the highest standards of relevance, reliability, and timeliness.
This position is established to provide an employee to perform limited and clearly defined special investigations, or comparable portions of continuing studies, or of major projects of higher level analysts, as an advanced trainee in the profession. The incumbent conducts specific trainee assignments and limited studies in support of projects of higher level professionals.
