This position is located at the Small Business Administration's,  Illinois District Office, which is located in Chicago, IL. The Illinois  District Office is seeking a motivated, dynamic, and talented individual to join their Business Development team.  You will be responsible for providing effective leadership, management and oversight required to optimize the deployment of SBA programs and services in the District and to achieve assigned goals.  This is an exciting opportunity to assist small businesses directly and help stimulate America's economic growth!

 

You will serve as the supervisor of Economic Development for the District, responsible for the development and implementation of a viable Strategic Marketing & Outreach Plan (SMOP).   You will spend at least 25% of the time leading journey level, GS-12 Specialists,  providing technical and administrative supervision.  You will plan work, set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules of completion of projects.  You will be responsible for building and maintaining a local network of collaborative partnerships with small business stakeholders such as economic development practitioners in Federal, state, regional and local government organizations.  You will represent the SBA at a variety of public functions through outreach and presentations/trainings in order to educate the small business community.  You will provide assistance through consultative and customer interactions with small businesses, collaborative partners and the general public.

GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level which demonstrates ability to supervise a team in developing marketing strategy for programs and services; conducting outreach and promotion to successfully deliver events to large and diverse audiences; developing and delivering training presentations to various organizations and small businesses on SBA programs and services, as well as a wide range of business and financial management topics; and in building and maintaining collaborative alliances and partnerships with high level officials from various groups, such as chambers of commerce, economic development officials, government agencies, and educational institutions, to achieve objectives related to counseling individuals on business management. This position requires proficiency in using a variety of software applications and technologies in all aspects of the job.
