The person selected for this position will serve as a Human Resources Assistant responsible for processing a wide range of personnel actions and providing customer service to organizations at NIST.

The incumbent of this position processes personnel actions using the National Finance Center (NFC) and EPIC automated personnel system. Provides customer service to client organizations on personnel actions, time & attendance, benefits and leave. Calculates service computation dates for leave, retirement and reduction-in-force taking into account creditable military, intermittent, and non-pay time. Conducts entrance-on-duty orientation for new employees and performs separation and clearance processing. Orders, receives, reviews, and maintains Official Personnel Folder documentation in accordance with policies and procedures. Initiates and reviews employee background investigations in accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive -12 and Personal Identify Verification policies. Issues tentative and final job offers to new hires.

Basic Qualification Requirements:

Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute. 

To qualify for the ZS-III level (equivalent to the GS-5/6) applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the ZS-II (GS-04) in entering personnel data using an automated system and providing advice and guidance to customers on human resources issues; OR

4 years of education above high school.

To qualify for the ZS-IV level (equivalent to the GS-7/8) applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the ZS-III (GS-6) in processing the full range of personnel actions using an automated personnel system and providing advice and guidance to customers on human resources issues.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

We will review your resume and cover letter to determine if you meet the minimum qualification requirements for the position.
