The Fee Nurse Clinical Manager is aligned within the Clinic of Jurisdiction (COJ)/Fee Services.  Responsible for providing the clinical leadership and expertise for the coordination of the medical center's non-VA care authorization program, adhering to all Fee federal regulations, VHA guidelines, medical review criteria, utilization management processes, clinical documentation requirements, current standards of care, and compliance guidelines.  Provides direct staff support to the Fee Program in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and evaluating the effectiveness of program components and/or services to improve the quality of patient care and the appropriateness and timeliness of services provided. 

 

Has supervisory responsibility for all Fee Nurse Case Managers.  Handles staffing, work assignments, reviews and approves leave requests, timekeeping, establishes functional statements, competencies, monitors productivity and compliance and the accuracy, timeliness and overall quality of work product.  Frequently travels between medical centers and outpatient clinics to educate staff about the Fee Services Program.  Is accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, Director of Fee Services, COJ.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant.  Education must have been accredited through The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) The NLNAC accredits all levels of nursing programs or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

 

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.

 


Education:

Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.
