This position is located within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service's (NClS) Family and Sexual Violence (F&SV) unit. The incumbent is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating sensitive Family and Sexual Violence (F&SV) investigations and establishing and maintaining contacts with various commands and officials of numerous law enforcement and governmental agencies within the assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR) to obtain and exchange information.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

As an investigator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

 

·       Investigating cases.

·       Receives and generates case assignments.

·       Review records and obtain information in connection with inquiries and investigations.

·       Recruits and utilizes Cooperating Witnesses (CWs) and other sources, and disseminates appropriately.

·       Safeguards sensitive and classified information and provides access to that information only within strict guidelines.

·       Presents evidence and testifies at court-martials, civil trials and administrative hearings.

REQUIREMENTS:

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

 

Selectee must complete a Special Background investigation and receive a favorable adjudication by a determining authority. Must be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a polygraph examination.

 

This position requires access to firearms or ammunition. The Federal government is prohibited from employing individuals in such position who have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, or a felony crime of domestic violence adjudged on or after 27 November 2002. Selectee for such position must submit a completed DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition, before a final job offer can be made.

 

Must possess and maintain, or have the ability to possess and maintain, a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

 

In accordance with Executive Order 12564, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.  In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
