The incumbent plans, organizes, coordinates and administers the day-to-day and continuing operations of the Club.  The incumbent is responsible for the fiscal integrity of the functional programs provided to all eligible patrons.  This requires the application of sound business knowledge and skills in order to provide food, beverage social protocol, entertainment programs to authorized patrons and their guests.  Management responsibilities include the establishment of operational policy for food service, beverage operations, catering, marketing and menu development.  The manager is accountable for all facilities and equipment. Promotes effectiveness and efficiency within the club using strong organizational and budgetary guidelines and internal controls necessary to provide reasonable assurance of accomplishing management goals and objectives.  Meets suspense’s on budget, information request, etc.  Maintains established stock levels of merchandise and furniture necessary for the operation of the club.  Prepares both non-appropriated and appropriated budgets on an annual basis to be incorporated into the overall Food and Beverage budget.  Initiates inventory adjustment or survey requests to reconcile discrepancies.  Is liable for losses of funds and/or property where dishonesty, fraud or negligence is established. Ensures that training programs are established that teaches employees to be thoroughly knowledgeable of their particular duties. Provides adequate supervision to see that those duties are carried out.  Ensures equal opportunity employment practices. Works closely with other MWR staff and management, installation commander, manufacturers, vendors, etc., to ensure all are informed of club policies, special events, problems or other pertinent information; and that facility and equipment are maintained appropriately.  Ensures that safety, sanitation, and/or security deficiencies are identified and corrected. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must possess a minimum of five (5) years experience in the food/beverage field, with a minimum of two (2) years at a management level.  Must possess a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.  Specific education and/or training in food service operations is strongly preferred. Knowledge of and experience in the application of a broad range of club management principles, concepts and methodology to a variety of activities and services provided by a full-service operation.  Typical services include, but is not limited to :  alcoholic beverage service, limited lunchtime buffet or table services, bingo nights, weekend live music and dancing, specialty evening dining and salad bars, and catering services to accommodate private parties and groups. Knowledge of DOD and Navy club policies, regulations, administrative practices and procedures related to management, planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating club social and recreational programs and for the efficient operation and use of assigned facilities and equipment is preferred.


 

As a position of trust, the successful completion of a National Agency Check (NAC) or equivalent background check is required upon hire and periodically thereafter.  The position may be designated as ALPHA personnel for inclement weather or in the interest of national security, and will be required to report for work when other employees are excused.  This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
