As a Health System Specialist, GS-0671-09, you will be working in the Medical Boards Section, Patient Administration Dept where you will serve as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) who is considered the primary liaison between the military member and other agencies.

As a Health System Specialist, your duties may include:
--administering program requirements that may affect individuals timely and quality benefits or services;
--analyzing and evaluating a variety of customers as related to retirement, transition and Survivor Benefits Programs;
--providing assistance in obtaining financial, legal and personal affairs counsel for the military members or family members.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.   Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting senior analysts in analyzing healthcare programs. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience should demonstrate the following:

--experience has been progressively analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field and was performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. This work involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, or procurement.

OR

--successfully completed a master’s or equivalent graduate degree with major study in one or more of the following: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR

--successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree with major study in one or more of the following: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR

--obtained an LL.B. or J.D. (only if the education is related to the position being filled) with major study in one or more of the following: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR

--combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
