(2) Appointment, grade and salary of hybrid Title 38 positions are subject to the recommendation of the Professional Standards Board and approval by the Medical Center Director.

 

DUTIES:  Assigned to Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service (MH&BS), the incumbent provides ongoing health care liaison and case management services to veterans and assures that all appropriate measures are being taken to provide timely and high quality inpatient and outpatient follow-up and care.  He/she provides direct clinical patient care to veterans, their families, and caregivers to include psychosocial assessments, screenings and evaluations, crisis management, individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, treatment planning, consultation, and assistance with placement and functioning in the community.  This individual is administratively responsible for clinical programming and daily operation of the program, as well as managing the data related to the program. He/she functions as a coordinator for care of veterans who are enrolled in the MH&BS Programs which includes outpatient follow-up care, risk factors for illness exacerbation, and suicide prevention strategies for individual patients, and for the veterans community as a whole.   The coordinator develops and/or implements the use of a means to track patients and provide subsequent reports; disseminates, organizes, and conducts evidence-based interventions.

REQUIREMENTS:

A. Education:   Successful completion master's degree in Social Work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).  Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited.  A doctoral degree in Social Work may not be substituted for the master's degree in Social Work.  (MUST SUBMIT UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS).

 

B.  Licensure:  Must possess a license or certification from a State at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination.  (MUST SUBMIT COPY OF LICENSE)

 

C.   Specialized Experience:   Two (2) years of post-master's experience in area of specialized social work practice, one (1)  of the 2 years being equivalent to at least the GS-11 in federal service is required.
