This is an interdisciplinary position which may be filled by any one of the following series: (0854) Computer Engineer and (1550) Computer Scientist. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) is the Navy's Information Dominance Systems Command. SPAWAR is fully committed to supporting the achievement of the Navy's mission and is dedicated to serving the Fleet. 

Charleston, SC salary range will include 14.16% for locality.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ENGINEER:

A Successfully completed a full four-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering from an accredited college or university that has an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

OR Successfully completed a full four-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering in an accredited college or university. The curriculum included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR A registered Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S. The registration is based on a written examination given by the State Board, or is in a specialty field within or closely related to the specialty of this position (to receive credit, you must submit a copy of your registration with your application).

OR Successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination and completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in engineering technology (BET) from an accredited college or university that included 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences (to receive credit, the specialty field of the BET program must be within or closely related to the specialty of this position. You must also submit documentation that you passed the EIT examination).

OR Completed, at an accredited college or university, at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included courses as described above, and are acceptable toward a degree in professional engineering.

OR Successfully completed a four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in a related scientific curriculum such as physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology. Work experience includes one or more years of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. 

BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR COMPUTER SCIENTIST:

A Degree in computer science.

OR Degree related degree that includes 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have been in any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 pay band or to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)developing and integrating software applications associated with different operating systems in an enterpirse environment, 2) developing and configuring relational databases, 3)providing direction for non-functional and software requirements, and 4)managing project expectations through continuous communication with technical personnel..

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.
  • Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
  • Work requires travel away from the normal duty station 6-10 nights per month.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience.
