JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army’s Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world’s largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

You will supervise an organizational segment or unit responsible in planning and directing work operations and exercising administrative authorities. Plan use of subordinate workers' equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisor. Assign work to employees and provide technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work. Observe work in progress, investigate work- related problems, such as excessive costs or low productivity, and determines causes. Plan and establish overall leave schedules; determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment.

Screen Out Element: The ability to Lead or Supervise.  Journey level experience performing installation, repair, modification, and testing for a variety of armament, avionic, and electrical for rotary wing aircraft, (i.e. radio and radar navigation systems, radar altimeter systems, radio and radar instrumentation systems, identification transponders systems, and radio communication systems);  Install, troubleshoot, and repair systems and/or adjust specific components (i.e. radio communications and radar transponders, control units, coder-decoder unit's navigation data converters, and instrument landing system components);  Use a variety of electronic testing equipment; Interpret standards, specifications, and schematic wiring diagrams.

Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provides (1) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.; (2) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics; (3) Theory of Electronics; (4) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools –Electronics; (5) Trouble-shooting (Electronic Equipment); and (6) Ingenuity (Ability to Suggest and Apply New Methods).

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands, sits, climbs, bends and may work in cramped and awkward positions. Handles objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside hangar area. Subject to cold, heat, and drafts. Danger of cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns and electric shock. Must be available for TDY assignments with 24 hours or less notice, and subject to recall to CCAD during off hours.
