JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
DUTY STATION: James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA

 

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Generally, an employee may be advanced to this

position if he/she has served for at least 52 weeks in a position at or

above the GS-05 level. Nonappropriated fund service, non General Schedule

service, (e.g., WG) or combinations of certain other creditable service may

be used to satisfy time-in-grade requirements when appropriate. Each case

will be judged on its own merit.

Specialized experience: To Qualify applicants with current or prior permanent Federal service must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the second lower grade/level (GS-05).  Specialized experience at the GS-05 level is defined as: Reviewing applications to determine eligibility, completing forms and maintaining the military record jackets and maintaining an automated Human Resource system to review applicant material.  All other candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-06. Specialized experience at the GS-06 level is defined as: 1) Experience with an in-depth knowledge of and skill in applying a standard body of military personnel duties, regulations, procedures and operations concerning the preparation of enrollment and contract documents to maintain and update military record jackets for ROTC cadets, and to perform military functions in support of unit military cadre. 2) Experience with the ROTC organization and functions of the Detachment sufficient to provide regulatory guidance and program eligibility information.

 

 


Education is not creditable, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
