-Examines dams, diversion structures, tunnels, canals, powerplants, building structures, project bridges, and other facilities for specified maintenance characteristics.
-Assembles engineering data, prepares cost estimates, plans, specifications, and inspections.
-Monitors the progress of managing entities in accomplishing recommendations and plans for the correction of deficiencies. Plans for accomplishing operation and maintenance (O&M) work within budget limitations.
-Coordinates the Comprehensive Facility Review (CFR) component of the Safety of Dams (SOD) Program for various facilities and participates in CFR activities.
-Enters recurring data into software databases and coordinates the reporting of data.

GS-07: Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; -OR- that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science or mathematics, AND completion of at least 12 months or 18 semester hours of graduate level coursework leading to a Masters in a closely related engineering field; - OR- one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-06 level in the Federal service; -OR- a combination of education and specialized experience.

GS-08: Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree as stated above AND completion of at least 18 months or 27 semester hours of graduate level coursework leading to a Master's in a closely related engineering field; -OR- one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-7 level in the Federal service; -OR- a combination of education and specialized experience.

DEFINITIONS OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:

GS-7: Examples of specialized experience include: Directed work as part of a team, implementing engineering designs and plans in the O&M of civil structures or facilities. Work included some contracting monitoring and interpretation and preparation of concept level drawings. Directed work as part of a team that included similar equipment to that used in Safety of Dams (SOD) related instrumentation, testing, sampling and monitoring. Communicated in written and verbal form regarding technical matters to interested parties inside the employee's organization. Analysis of technical data using standard software.

GS-8: Examples of specialized experience include: Independent technical work, implementing engineering designs and plans related to O&M of dams, storage reservoirs, and water delivery structures and facilities. Work included contractor oversight and interpretation and preparation of specification level drawings. Worked independently in the performance of SOD related instrumentation, testing, sampling and monitoring. Frequently communicated in written and verbal form regarding complex technical matters to interested parties inside and outside the employee's organization. Analysis of technical data using specialized and standard software.

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience. Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position. 5. Ability to provide general office support, including compiling information from a variety of sources; write reports; create, maintain and organize documents; use a variety of computer programs, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets and databases; and plan meetings.
6. Knowledge of safety and health codes and regulations and the ability to work safely.
7. Skill performing construction inspections to ensure work is performed and completed per engineering specifications and contract agreements.
