JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Solicitation of Interest to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill and excepted service position (Title 10) Faculty Development and Outreach Coordinator, VPAA, Marine Corps University. The Marine Corps University is located on Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA.

  • Coordinate Marine Corps University (MCU) faculty development activities. Deliver instruction on topics related to adult learning theory, curriculum development and delivery, assessment techniques and other topics relevant to graduate and non-graduate educational programs. Organize educational forums and colloquiums on topics pertinent to the curricula and the interests of MCU colleges and schools.
  • Coordinate activities of the MCU Board of Visitors (BOV), an advisory board to the MCU President and senior USMC leadership. Maintain training certificates and documentation required for all BOV members, submit membership applications and renewals for BOV members, and coordinate two meetings of the BOV each year.
  • Coordinate annual MCU Emerald Express Strategic Symposium Series and MCU Lecture Series. Develop a prioritized list of potential speakers and schedule optional lectures at appropriate dates, coordinated across MCU curriucla.
  • Management of MCU Academic Chair Programs. Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, and support for University Academic Chairs positions. Ensure the expertise of the Academic Chairs is fully integrated into all academic programs of the University.
  • Coordinate the MCU Academic Research Assistant Program. Coordinate the announcement and selection of Research Assistant positions and assignment of Research Assistants with MCU's college, schools, and academic centers.

Candidates should possess a minimum of a masters degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to adult learning, human resource development, higher education, or a related field in adult education. Knowledge of the best-practices in higher education related to the scholarship of teaching and learning, adult learning techniques and theories as well as standards associated with the assessment of student learning. Knowledge will include principles of adult learning, educational technology, the Socratic method of teaching, effective seminar coordination, the effective use of case studies, assessment of adult learners, critical reasoning, lesson implementation workshops, teaching teams, collaborative learning, and research methodologies. Knowledge of education/academic policy administration at the university level, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) criteria related to faculty.

 


 

This opening will be filled under Title 10 Excepted Service, AD-1701-09, ($84,112 to $91,769), which includes the current Local Market Supplement of 24.22%.  Pay and title will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and MCU pay setting guidelines.

The candidate’s background, experience and training will be evaluated by a selection committee against the criteria listed above.  Selected candidates will be interviewed.
