JOB SUMMARY:

NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.

This temporary position can be non-competitively extended.

 

The position serves as the senior associate and focuses on securing external support from private, family, and corporate foundations for the National Endowment for the Humanities.  The senior associate serves as the Endowment's primary representative to foundations, including communication with Endowment’s senior staff.

At the GS-15 level, Qualified candidates must possess:

1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: cultivating, assessing, and soliciting private, family, and corporate private sector, with a focus on major gifts; Compiling information about prospective private sector donors to determine gift potential and identifies prospects.


Education is not creditable for positions in this series above the GS-11 level.

  1. Ability to develop complex, multi-million dollar, multi-year budgets using spreadsheets and databases to prepare tables, charts, reports, and analyses.

  3. Ability to interpret laws and regulations
  4. .Expert knowledge of and experience with fundraising from individuals, corporations, and private sector donors.
  5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your application will be evaluated and rated under the NEH's Merit Staffing Procedures.  We will review your résumé and supporting documentation and compare this information to your responses on the occupational questionnaire to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for this position. You will be further evaluated against job-related criteria and placed in one of two pre-defined categories:  

·          Best Category - Meets the basic qualification requirements for the vacancy announcement and has successful experience in the same or similar job that has demonstrated outstanding proficiency in applying knowledge, skill, and ability in the critical competencies for this position.

·          Qualified Category - Meets the specialized experience outlined in the minimum qualifications requirements section of the vacancy announcement.
