JOB SUMMARY:

As a Health Systems Administrator in the Lockport Service Unit, you will provide supervision and direction to the health center staff to include administrative services and program operations.

  • Relocation expenses are authorized and will be paid only if you are a current Federal Employee. You will be required to sign a one year service agreement. Failure to fulfill the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses.

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT - In accordance with the IHS Employee Immunization policy, selectee will be required to be immunized against measles and rubella by providing documentation/proof of immunity to measles and rubella prior to entrance on duty. Exceptions are persons born before 1957 who are not required to take the measles vaccine or provide proof of immunity. Special consideration may be allowed to individuals who are allergic to a component of vaccine or have a history of severe reaction to a vaccine or who are currently pregnant. This applies to candidates for positions in any Service Unit or any Area Office position which requires regular work at a Service Unit.

·     Oversee the financial management of the health center.            

·    Supervise a staff providing medical, administrative, and program services/operations.     

·    Prepare reports for the review of accrediting agencies and regulatory groups.      

·    Recommend corrective actions to program processes to ensure compliance with accrediting agency's requirements.      

·    Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of health center administrative operations, procedures, and organization structures.

GS-12:  Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, that included progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. The work involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:

  • Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
  • Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
  • Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.
  • Management ability to delegate authority, evaluate and oversee people and programs, recognize and adapt to changing priorities; and
  • Knowledge of the interrelationships and interdependencies among various medical and administrative services and programs.

Applicants must have successfully completed an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program that included a formal individualized training plan (Must be supported in your resume). Such a training program must have been conducted in an operating health care system and included: Assignments providing a knowledge of basic health system administration philosophies, practices, and procedures, and basic government administrative policies and requirements; Practical assignments providing an opportunity to apply health system administration skills and principles (as the individual progresses, work assignments must be characteristic of the grade level to which he or she is assigned); and Oversight by an experienced health system administrator with periodic evaluation of the individual's progress and appropriate adjustment of the training program.
