JOB SUMMARY:

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of natural gas, oil, and electricity. FERC also regulates natural gas and hydropower projects. As part of our goal, we are seeking highly skilled individuals to assist in carrying out the mission of this agency. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position within the Office of Enforcement.

This position is responsible for providing secretarial services to the Office and Deputy Offfice Directors.

This position is located in the Office of Enforcement (OE) which serves the public interest by protecting consumers through market oversight and surveillance; assuring compliance with tariffs, rules, regulations, and orders; detecting, auditing, and investigating potential violations; and crafting appropriate remedies, including civil penalties and other measures.  

More than one selection may be made from this announcement and the office for that selection may vary.

This position is included in the Bargaining Unit

The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the following duties: 

- Receives and screens all visitors and telephone calls to the Office Director and Deputy Office Director.

- Schedules appointments and maintains the Office Director and Deputy Office Director calendars.

- Arranges and coordinates travel (international and domestic), including arranging schedule of visits, hotel and transportation reservations.

- Produces a variety of written documents utilizing MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Candidates must have on full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level. Specialized Experience is defined as:  Experience providing clerical support including skill in scheduling meetings and appointments, proofreading, knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google), travel (international and domestic), training, filing, presentation and conference coordination and tracking day-to-day activities to increase the efficiency of the office.


There are no educational requirements to qualify for this position.

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for this position, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

3. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external contacts at all levels of responsibility.

4. Demonstrated ability and flexibility to be able to multitask with various office activities and administrative functions with competing priorities.
