This position is located in the Office of Credit Risk Management, Washington, DC.

  • Review incoming lender review packages, research to provide background information, prepare summary statements and ensure package is complete before referring for processing;  
  • Develop databases, conduct data analysis and produce reports for staff and OCRM managers;  
  • Provide administrative staff support to OCRM Director (e.g. human resources, budget tracking, arranging meetings and conferences, supplies, mail and printing, travel), etc;
  • Arrange for confidential and policy level conferences and meetings between OCRM Director and SBA officials, other government agencies, and industry groups;
  • Provide consultation to staff and OCRM managers on a wide array of internal administrative matters.

      In order to qualify for a GS-1101-9 Program Specialist, you must meet one of the following:  

      A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, reviewing, verifying accuracy of data identifying errors and/or missing information for eligibility requirements for lender/loan programs, services or benefits, etc.; conducting research; furnishing information to the public on program eligibility and requirements; developing reports; maintaining a database; providing administrative support (e.g. human resources, budget tracking, arranging meetings, conferences), etc.


      B. Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will satisfy the one year of full-time study requirement. 


      C. Have a combination of experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above.

Qualified candidates will be ranked into one of three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified or Qualified.  

      The Category Rating Process does not add veterans' preference points but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-preference eligibles within each category. Preference eligibles who meet the minimum qualification requirements and who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent must be listed in the highest quality category (except in the case of scientific or professional positions at the GS-9 level or higher).

      2. Skill in utilizing computer software application in order to collect data, develop databases and analyze data.
