This position is located in the Office of Information and Resource Management, Division of Information Systems, Administrative Systems Branch. The Branch is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing applications that support the administrative functions of the Foundation.

The Supervisory IT Specialist serves as Branch Chief, of the Administrative Systems Branch in the Division of Information Systems. Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Planning, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of staff;
  • Sets general priorities and goals for employees establishing deadlines and ensures timely completion of work assignments;
  • Assigns projects according to complexity of the work and capabilities of employees;
  • Plans for the effective utilization of resources;
  • Provides technical advice to staff in NSF offices; makes evaluations on proposed solutions to information processing requirements to the Deputy Division Director and senior staff; and
  • Performs other administrative and technical duties in support of the functions and responsibilities of the Deputy Division Director.

To qualify at GS-15, you need to have the following: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: supervisory oversight and guidance to an IT service area; managing IT projects, systems, and services to meet current and future business requirements; experience implementing and managing IT lifecycle services, including planning, budget, deployment, and ongoing maintenance, applied to the efficient and effective management of administrative systems in an organization; developing and interpreting policies and procedures for delivery of services; providing technical advice to management on critical IT issues; applying new developments to previously unsolvable problems; and developing solutions to integration/interoperability issues.



Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
