This position is located in the Security Department of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. This position is responsible for cleaning, maintenance, and inventory of Ready-for-Issue (RFI) weapons, ammunition and related law enforcement/security equipment.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

·         Responsibility for the accountability, issue, receipt, cleanliness, minor maintenance and serviceability of all weapons and ammunition located in the Security Department.

·         Perform frequent inventories of all Ready-for-Issue (RFI) weapons, ammunition and other items in custody, alerting security and law enforcement of any discrepancies.

·         Support security training and law enforcement personnel on the use and care of weapons.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:  Ability to do the work of a Small Arms Repairer without more than normal supervision such as: the accountability, issue, receipt, cleanliness, minor maintenance, and serviceability of all ammunition.

Current valid state driver’s license is required.

Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License with HAZMAT endorsement is required.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

 

A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.  If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume. 

 

In accordance with Executive Order 12564, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.  In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

Selectee must obtain a current Commercial drivers license with HAZMAT endorsement license.

 

Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.

 

This position requires access to firearms or ammunition. The Federal government is prohibited from employing individuals in such position who have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, or a felony crime of domestic violence adjudged on or after 27 November 2002. Selectee for such position must submit a completed DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition, before a final job offer can be made.
