You will:

- Serve as the senior expert and consultant to agency management officials for desktop support, desktop security and technical architecture for desktop support operations; lead efforts in research, testing, and the implementation management of desktop hardware, software and security solutions for the Agency.

- Conduct extensive investigation and analysis of largely undefined conditions and devise desktop solutions with other specialty areas such as email, file and print, security, internet access, application, server and network operations.

- Initiate, direct, and manage the engagement of contractor support to address technical issues; anticipate technical requirements and develop a plan with requisite research and make recommendations to division management.

- Ensure all desktop support technology is properly tested, documented and implemented with appropriate training material; and ensure United States Government configuration.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts.

You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this positionas described below:

To qualify for the GS-15 level, you need to have at least one year of full time

experience defined as:

-Providing analytical and technical support in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Information Security Programs.

-Testing, implementation, and support of the following Desktop applications: MS

Office, Windows 7, Adobe, Bomgar (remote desktop control), BigFix, Juniper and Beyond Trust.

In addition to the experience and/or education described in this announcement, you must also have the following to be qualified for this position: You must have the following certification: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation V2 or V3.

Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of agency Information Technology (IT) and security standards and policies; 2) Skill in managing IT technical programs, projects, deployments, communications, and other related activities; 3)Skill in providing recommendations on contracting policies and procedures; 4) Knowledge of IT operational security pertaining to personal computers, local area networks, applications, and computer equipment; 5) Knowledge in deploying IT systems to large user communities; 6) Skill in designing, developing, and managing systems to meet current and future business requirements; 7) Knowledge of the United States Government Configuration Baseline (USGCB) standards.


This position is designated as High Risk and requires a background investigation.  Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

If you are selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Form prior to your first day of employment and annually thereafter.  

If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
