Relocation Expenses Paid:  Relocation expenses are authorized and will be paid only if you are a current Federal Employee.  You will be required to sign a one year service agreement.  Failure to fulfill the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses.

Errors or omissions may impact your rating or result in you losing consideration for the job.  This position is located at the Kayenta Indian Health Service, Kayenta, AZ and Inscription House Health Center, Shonto, AZ.  Kayenta Service Unit has multiple official worksites:  Kayenta Health Center, Inscription House Health Center, Dennehotso Health Center, Kayenta School Clinic, and the Shonto School Clinic.  The incumbent may be required from time-to-time to work at any of these various locations throughout the Kayenta Service Unit. 

  •  As a member of the health care team, serves as Clinical Nurse performing professional nursing duties
  • Develops individualized patient care plans or participates in patient care planning
  • Interviews patients and family members and consults with attending physicians, other staff members
  • Reviews and interprets findings to distinguish between normal and abnormal conditions
  • Carries out treatments and emergency or other procedures required
  • Maintains health records by documenting observations
  • When assigned as team leader, provides guidance, direction and training to ancillary nursing
  • Provides counseling and teaching to patients and families or surrogates
  • Initiates patient referrals when necessary
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of care, Quality Assurance and Infection Control activities

Basic Requirements:

Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

An active, unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

 

In addition to the above, you must also meet the following minimum requirements for the grade level you wish to be considered for:

GS-04: Completion of a program of less than 30 months duration or associate degree and/or 1 year of nursing experience as a military corpsman. 

GS-05: Completion of a program of less than 30 months duration or associate degree AND 1 year of professional nursing, or at least GS-4 level Practical nursing experience under the supervision of a professional nurse OR completion of a program of at least 30 months' duration or 4 academic years above high school or bachelor's degree

GS-07: Completion of a professional nursing program AND 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level OR 1 full year of graduate education or bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.

GS-09: 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's degree OR 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level.

 

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience for the Nurse/Clinical Nurse include: work experience reflecting knowledge of hospital policy and procedures relating to patient care. Work experience managing patient care in varying medical situations.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

First notification: Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
