The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care system is recruiting a part-time physician who is a board certified/board eligible Physician (Infectious Disease)

Salary Determination:  Applicant's education and length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Professional Standards Board and Compensation Panel in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.

Appointment Information:  The candidate selected for this position may be placed into a temporary appointment, not to exceed one year and one day, pending completion of the boarding process.

DUTIES:

Primary duties will be assessing, consulting and treating patients with infectious disease. Manages the outpatient IV antimicrobial therapy program. Candidate must possess commitment to patient care and take an active role in a very active Medical Service. Candidate must possess excellent skills, both clinical and administrative. They physician will be required to participate in an on-call rotation on weekends and holidays. The rotation is shared with other physicians within the medical center. In addition, incumbent will provide guidance to rotating residents, fellows, and medical students.

EDUCATION DEBT REDUCTION PROGRAM (EDRP):  The incumbent for this position may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program. Please contact Human Resources at this medical center and speak with the Education Debt Reduction Program Coordinator for additional information.

Salary:  To be determined by a Physician Pay Panel, consisting of your peers, based on your education and experience

Work Schedule:  This position is for 1 day a week only (Part-Time)

Relocation/Recruitment incentive has not been approved for this position

Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed

This position is covered by the bargaining unit

Citizenship:  Citizen of the United States

Licensure and Registration:  Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. Must be licensed as MD or DO for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

English Language Proficiency:  Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d)

Physical Standards:  Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.

Education:  Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure
