This position is located in the Office of Technology Services (OTS).  Incumbent serves as a Mainframe program manager, and acts as manager of FRTIB Mainframe platform, which provides the agency systems with a stable mainframe environment to run mission critical applications.

DUTIES:

  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and integrate all aspects of the Agency Mainframe platform;
  • Account for overall success and effectiveness of Mainframe platform programs, projects, and operations, and ensures alignment with critical Agency priorities and other IT programs, functions, and systems;
  • Oversee and manage Mainframe platform programs, projects, acquisitions, and operations to ensure the achievement of, and support for, Agency strategic goals and objectives;
  • Provide expert subject matter expertise on new and ongoing multi-year Mainframe platform projects, including selecting and prioritizing projects, developing requirements, conducting analyses, collaborating on the design and acquisition, overseeing implementing and testing, coordinating deployments, and evaluating and monitoring progress and achievement of project goals and objectives;

 

  •       ~Maintain expert knowledge and awareness of Mainframe technologies.

In order to qualify for GS-2210-14 Information Technology Specialist, you must possess experience demonstrating each of the four competencies:(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

AND

Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include planning, managing, coordinating, and integrating all aspects of an agency's mainframe platform; managing the overall success and effectiveness of mainframe platform programs, projects, and operations; ensuring an agency's mainframe platform projects align with priorities, other IT projects, functions, and systems; and providing expert subject matter expertise on mainframe platform projects to include developing requirements, conducting analyses, overseeing implementation and testing, evaluating and monitoring progress, etc.


Conditions of Employment:

1. Background Suitability Investigation: Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background investigation and the granting of a Federal suitability or security clearance.
