The National Defense University is the premier center for Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) and is under the direction of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Universitys main campus is on Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C. The Joint Forces Staff College is located in Norfolk, VA.
This position is being announced under OPM's Direct Hire Authority. This position will be filled at the GS-13 level.
The National Defense University (NDU) educates military and civilian leaders through teaching, research, and outreach in national security strategy, national military strategy, and national resource strategy; joint and multinational operations; information strategies, operations, and resource management; acquisition; and regional defense and security studies. NDU is an information age university for national security leaders; a learning organization founded on knowledge management; the center of excellence and innovation for professional military education in joint, multinational, and interagency operations. Basic requirement: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating:
1) Attention to Detail
2) Customer Service
3) Oral Communication
4) Problem Solving
In addition to the basic requirement listed above, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. You must demonstrated experience implementing and coordinating activities designed to carry out availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
Background or Security Investigation: This is a special sensitive position which requires a background investigation. The individual selected for this position is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security determination to occupy a special sensitive position within the agency as a condition of employment.
Travel is seldom required.
