This position is ideal for a training professional looking for an opportunity to coordinate the delivery of off-campus 2-, 6-, and 10-day courses through State fire service training agencies and its Training Resources and Data Exchange (TRADE) network. This position starts at a salary of $51,630 (GS-9) with promotion potential to the $74,872 (GS-12). PROMOTION POTENTIAL: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.

EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT:  For all nonbargaining unit positions, the following applies:  Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.  All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

In this position, you will become a member of the Education, Training & Partnership Section.  At the full performance level, typical assignments will include:

  • Coordinating and managing the delivery of NFA's 2-, 6-, and 10-day off-campus courses conducted at the state and local level;
  • Providing oversight and coordinating all assigned scheduled and enfranchised course deliveries through face-to-face, phone and email contact;
  • Monitoring training conducted by fire service delivery systems in states;
  • Assists in the identification of subject areas for which courses are needed to best supplement state and local fire training academies.

You qualify for this position at the GS-09 level if you possess one of the following: One full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is described as experience in a position requiring knowledge of policies and procedures that support the successful scheduling, management and delivery of national-level training courses.

OR

master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

OR

Combination of education and experience.

Time-in-Grade Requirements for Federal employees:  Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

1. Ability to manage and coordinate multiple, ongoing training courses and/or workshops.

2. Knowledge of national-and state-level fire and emergency services training programs.

3. Knowledge of information management methods and tools.

4. Ability to communicate and present orally and in writing.
